WICT provides the most powerful B2B network in the industry, an unparalleled suite of educational programs and services, and original gender research to support the business case for diversity and inclusion.
The WICT Network is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to create women leaders who transform our industry. We do this by providing unparalleled professional development programs, commissioning original gender research, and supporting a B2B network that helps advance women. For more than 40 years, The WICT Network has partnered with media, entertainment and technology companies to help build a more robust pipeline of women leaders. Founded in 1979, and now over 10,000 members strong, The WICT Network is the largest and oldest professional association serving women in media.
The WICT Network embraces a spirit of collaboration within its organization and throughout the industry. We partner with cable and telecommunications industry leaders to provide leadership programs and services, and challenge these companies to create professional advancement opportunities for women on a local and global level.
The WICT Network Touchstones of Leadership are our inspirational guide to effective leadership attributes – compiled to define the characteristics of a good leader and serve as our compass along the path of leadership development. We hope that you will keep The WICT Network Touchstones in mind and continue to be motivated by them in your workplace.
Happy Summer Everyone!
It is truly a privilege for me to lead this purpose-driven organization. I am also blessed to be surrounded by an outstanding, world-class team of deeply committed board members.
We’ve had some phenomenal programming during the first half of the year, which included our Community Service Silent Auction, Rising Star Mentorship program and our fabulous Visionary Leadership Breakfast. The Visionary Leadership breakfast, which has been one of my favorites to date, was held virtually on April 28. Cathy Traczek was this year’s Visionary Leader. We also introduced two new awards this year, which were the Catalyst and Inspire Awards. Piotr Skrajny was the Catalyst Award recipient, while Trayce Mingo was the Inspire Award recipient.
Our board has been working diligently to prepare worthwhile, insightful, fun and inspiring programming for our members. We’ve been planning for the rest of the year and have been looking ahead to next year’s programming. I’m really excited for our annual Tech It Out program that will be in-person this October. Please be on the lookout for more information.
As we move forward I remind you of our 2022 theme which is “Inspire”. With our current landscape, I challenge you more than ever to be an inspiration to someone. Sometimes that is all one needs to make a change. We will also continue to focus on growth, diversity, sponsorship and change.
Now that we’re beginning to shift back into more in-person events, it’s a great time to get involved with The WICT Network: Greater Chicago, as well as other opportunities that are available to you. Focus on further developing your leadership potential by volunteering, attending networking events and more. You can also become involved with our board of directors where you’ll be transformed!
Serving on the board is 100% voluntary and does require additional time and effort to plan our events. We’re grateful for all of our members who give their personal and extra time freely.
Wishing everyone a continued happy, healthy, and safe 2022 and hope to see you all in person again soon!
All the best,
President, The WICT Network: Greater Chicago
