A Message from Our President

To Our WICT Greater Chicago Community:

Welcome to Summer 2021! I am so excited for the rest of the year we have planned for the WICT Greater Chicago Region.

We continue to monitor developments regarding COVID-19 and look to the WHO, CDC, and local authorities for guidance. For now, we have structured all our Greater Chicago programming to be virtual, and we will provide any necessary updates as they become available.

In 2020, WICT Greater Chicago hosted 9 Webinars, 6 Books Clubs, 2 Membership Mixers & two out of our three annual Signature Events. What an inspirational year of programming. We conducted a survey to ensure we have our member’s needs in mind as we planned for 2021. We will continue to offer professional development webinars while engaging in some games and fun activities. While we understand everyone’s time is precious, we will try to align the dates/times of our events to capture the vast majority of all WICT members.

My deepest gratitude, respect, and thanks go to our WICT GCR board. They work hard and donate time to contribute to our professional & personal development via the programming scheduled. 2020 was a very difficult year due to illness from the pandemic and we were also hit hard with the death of our friend and colleague, Candace Greene. We are blessed to have three new board members join us in 2021. Please take a minute to review the entire list of Board Members here on the website.

I will serve as the President for one more year, working closely with our new Vice President Tarsha Simmons. Serving on the board is 100% volunteer & does take extra time and effort to plan the events. We are grateful for all our members who are able to give freely of their personal and extra time.

The WICT Touchstones of Leadership form the foundation for all WICT’s initiatives. They serve as our compass along the path of strategic and effective leadership development. The (7) WICT Touchstones are: KNOW YOURSELF, COMMUNICATE, LISTEN, CONNECT, BE A CATALYST, BE FEARLESS, INSPIRE

In 2021, WICT Greater Chicago selected “Be a Catalyst” as a theme for our 2021 programming. Based on the definition of “Be a Catalyst” & the environment we are in – Take the initiative. Raise the bar. Demand equality on all fronts and embrace diversity reflects our interest in webinars and speakers.

WICT Greater Chicago will partner with other stakeholders and organizations to provide three Signature Events:

1)Visionary Leadership Breakfast in April

2)Tech It Out in October

3)Holiday Wrap Up & Toys for Tots in December

We will host Membership Mixers; Book Clubs; and Webinars. We are working with WICT Global and other WICT Chapters, to participate in a “Global” webinar series that could provide you the opportunity to participate in “4 or 5” webinars time permitting in your schedule.

Please continue to monitor our website to dates & details as events get finalized.

Thank you for your continued support!

Lisa Thomas

President, WICT Greater Chicago
